Bron-Yr-Aur

dedicate a post to provide information of Cottage where Led Zeppelin (Page & Plant) were established in 1970 to compose several pieces. This place is so to speak, or the acoustic side of the country and contact with nature as a stimulus for emotions. Title song instrumental content Physical Graffiti, Bron - Yr - Aur (= "Seno d'oro" in the dialect of Gaelic), is a remote village in Snowdonia, a region located north-east Wales, where the airships had finished their third album in '70: it's a very peaceful place, which seems to come out from the pen of Tolkien in his Lord of the Rings , and this had affected the climate of that album. The place is reachable only by dirt roads, near the River Dovey. Today the cottage is private, but you can visit, such as a museum. Acoustic songs were composed around campfires or in the countryside, surrounded by beautiful scenery in Wales. The results were many songs of Led Zeppelin III and other compositions such as "Poor Tom ", "Down By The Seaside ", " Black Country Woman" and the same " Bron - Yr - Aur " (a piece simply amazing, and just as "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" - video below). The pronunciation of Welsh is particularly but we say / Bron Rar /.

video: "Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp"

This song is dedicated to the former Plant's dog, Strider (see case the name of one of the characters in Lord of the Rings ). Bonzo, in addition to drums, spoons and castanets added to enliven the atmosphere. "Ah, you surprise me when I smiled ... so it should be, like a leaf for the tree, it's so beautiful ... As we walk along a country lane, sing a song, you hear me calling .. . Yes, I have one thing to do: spend my life with you, you're the most beautiful dog I have ever known, so beautiful ...:). When you are old and your eyes will be eclipsed ... still a long walk country lanes, I'll sing the same old songs, you hear me calling your name ... "

Bron-Yr-Aur "

" The Rain Song " unledded, with orchestra. For me, the best conceivable in music.

It's bliss. This is ecstasy. The original version (video below) has more than 7 and a half minutes of musical enjoyment. All arrangements of guitar, acoustic and electrical, are wonderful. With placement of piano and strings. It 's a sweet melancholy really exciting. After start singing, there is a long instrumental part that gives the shivers. From 1:10 to about 3:50, then a part of long instruments only 2 minutes and 40 seconds. The song starts quiet and increases in intensity towards the end. Playing is very complicated, but possible. "... You are the sun that makes me grow ... it is not hard to feel ... I watched the fire burn expand slightly ... It 's the summer of my smiles ... and go away from me Keepers Talk of Darkness ... only with your eyes, it is to you that I dedicate this music ... It is not difficult to recognize that all this becomes clear to everyone from time to time ... Talk ... talk ... talk .. . ... tell me I felt the coldness of my winter, I would never thought it would go away ... I have cursed the darkness that beset us, but I know I love you very much, I know I love you very much ... These are the seasons of emotion, that rise and fall like the wind ... It 's the wonder of love, I see the torch we all must stand up ... It 's the mystery of the partition, all of us must fall a bit' of rain, just a little 'rain ... "

"Thank you"

Beautiful. One of the the most beautiful ballads of rock music. Very '70s. Page uses his double guitar, 12 strings. The text, Plant, is a declaration of love for his wife. E 'be so naive as they know only the most beautiful love songs. "If the sun refused to shine, keep on loving you ... Even when the mountains crumble to the sea you and I'll be there ... I'll give it my all, nothing more."

The Greatest Story Ever Told, set to the greatest music ever made, "Stairway to Heaven" ...

with a little extra at the end ...

Ten: the vote, with honors, in this masterpiece. 'S the classic, the perfect song that everyone is trying to do. It 's the song of Led Zeppelin par excellence, as well as one of the three most famous and beautiful songs of all time in the history of music ever. A stairway to Heaven, is the title. I really enjoy playing it. Begins and ends quiet unleashed in a growing experience. Home sweet arpeggio, pastoral flute, vocals, dreamy solo phenomenal, the best of Page's career. It 'a song from a fairy tale. It was not even a single (if you think, nowadays, with all the importance who have the money today, one that did a song like this, at least not to publish at least 10 different types of individual ...). It became the most requested song ever on U.S. radio in the 70s. Obviously, (returning to the speech of money ...) The artists who have made a cover of this song are innumerable (eg Alice in chains). "There's a feeling I have looking to the West ... and my soul is crying for leaving ... It is rumored that soon, if all call the tune right, the piper will lead us to reason, and a new day will dawn for those who stand long and the forests will echo with laughter ... " often repeats: "and it makes I wonder ... " It makes me wonder ... "Yes, there are two paths you can go, but in the long run you still have time to change course ... Your head is humming and the buzzing will not go, in case you dont know, the piper's calling, he wants you go to him. Dear lady, you hear the wind blow ... and did you know that your way is made of the whispering wind ... And if you listen closely, sooner or later, the tune will come to you, when all are one and one thing is for all ... "

(see more below about the song, in part on the Lord of the Rings)

"The rain song "

(see comment above)

" Down by the seaside, with video quotations

"Down by the seaside see the sailing boats go, oh what can the people hear the little fish are Saying? People Turned away ... " Along the beach you see the boats go, but people will be able to hear what they say the fish?" The people turned elsewhere ... And then he says that the song is so for the city, where you breathless, no longer have time to spend the day, people will turn elsewhere, much away ... and some people do crazy. But then: sing loud to the Sun, so pray for rain, and show your love for Lady Nature, it'll come back ...

"Going to California"

talks about the search for the ideal woman. "Someone told me that there is a girl with love in her eyes and flowers in your hair ..."

"Rock and roll" with Some rare photos

And if this is not rock and roll ... Considering the ingredients, never a song had an excel more of this title. A lethal concentration of energy, a pill history of rock. Led one of the songs and the entire genre. Another song in which it is used the "technique" of "Tangerine" and "D'yer Mak'er" cheerful melody and sad words.

"Tangerine"

Wonderful! Play is wonderful. Notable solo. I adore this song ... It 's almost a country. Tangerine, ie mandarin). We have here a technique often used in music have composed a melody rather cheerful, but with a text that speaks of melancholy, sadness, love past. It 's a contrasting mix, but extremely effective. "... Tangerine Tangerine Living reflection from a dream ... ..."

"Whole Lotta Love," The Most famous riffs in music history.

's a classic. Title: everything my love. It is recognized immediately in this song stands for "Top of the Pops" in recent years on television. This riff, the guitar riff, na-na na-na-na repeated constantly, is perhaps the "smash" more famous in music history. And the kids today do not even know where it comes from ... The text is very ambiguous ... ... They put everything inside, as they said "trains stop, women orgasm, an attack with napalm on the Mekong Delta, a lathe steel ...", after 70 seconds from the famous early You need coolin ' , there is a section where amazing happens all Plant moaning in orgasm. What is impressive even today are certainly not the obscenity of the text (like, down inside, honey, you need it ... I'll give you every inch of my love ... you've cooled down, I have come ...), but rather vocal interpretation of the deadly Plant. This song also became a favorite soundtracks committed by American soldiers in the Vietnam War, who listened to the ball to give the charge before attacking. The Plant has sung in his concert here in Milan to Mazdapalace, I was there. Memorable (negative) the only concert of Led Zeppelin in Italy, in 1971, Vigorelli velodrome in Milan, during the Cantagiro, Festivalbar type: a few songs and then chaos, police, tear gas, the public stealing tools, slaughterhouse absurd.

"All my love"

E 'perhaps the song more "commercial" Led, also even if the individual did not (nowadays would be unthinkable), as well as "Stairway to Heaven". They softened version of "sugary", but even so are all spans above.

"In the evening"

This is a song (The Battle of Evermore) written about the battle of Minis Tirith in the Lord of the Rings novel. Pay close attention to the lyrics as Most Of The Time They Are related to the video shown.

"Immigrant Song"

"That's the way"

E 'between songs from the soundtrack of the wonderful film "Almost Famous-Almost famous, "the world of music and groupies. At some point in the film there is also the Rain Song! (It was me that broke the chair:). Another good movie about rock is "Rock Star" , with Mark Whalberg and Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt's ex-wife. This song says, inter alia: "... I'm satisfied to sit here, having worked all day ... you're in darkest part of the city, and when I see you are out walking, because your eyes do not see me? ... And yesterday I saw you standing by the river ... and were not those tears that filled your eyes? And all the fish that lay in dirty water dying ... you have been hypnotized? And yesterday I saw you were kissing little flowers ... but all that is alive is born to die ... and so I say that there is no real problem ... "And 'one of the jewels of the catalog acoustic a ballad from the typical westcoastiane influences, with references to ecological Plant.

"Out on the tiles"

other words: out on the tiles. The chorus is one of the most tuneful of their repertoire ( "All I need from you is all your love ..."). "A ray of sunshine melts the clouds and blows away my sadness ... I can not say more, on a day like today I pass the time walking a bit 'with you, quietly ..."

Led Zeppelin & the Lord of Rings

a fan of Celtic culture as Robert Plant could not help but read the books of Tolkien, the writer of the South African author of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, who died in their 70s in England. Plant's interest in Celtic literature is publicized in songs as "Immigrant Song ," which tells the Viking wars, and the movie of the Led Zeppelin "The Song Remains The Same " takes place where the adventure of a knight played by the same Plant.

songs with references to the Book:
KASHMIR - MISTY MOUNTAIN HOP - NO QUARTER - OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY (among other things is the title of a story by Tolkien) - RAMBLA ON - Stairway To Heaven - The Battle Of Evermore

... My Shangri-La Beneath the Summer Moon

I will return again
As the dust it blows high in June ...

... My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon is
I will return
When the dust flies high in June ...

The beginning says "I let the sun beat on the face, the stars fill my dreams ..." As the song ends with him Shangri-La talking about and says "Oh, Father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of \u200b\u200byears With no provision but an open face ... oh, when I'm on my way when I see, when I see in what way you fixed his eyes ... oh my ... let me lead from there ... " is considered the culmination of the music of Led Zeppelin, is a mysterious and fascinating encounter between East and West.

... Sit with a gentle race of Elders
This world has seldom seen ...
Talk and songs from tongues of lilting grace
sounds caressed my ear.
But not a word I heard I Could Relate.
The story was quite clear.
... To sit with elders of a gentle race
What this world has seldom seen ...
Words and language songs of lilting grace
sounds caress my ears.
There was no word that I understood
But the story was quite clear.

We think the sweet singing and rhythmic speech reminiscent of the way we communicate Ent, an ancient race now extinct. Merry and Pippin, while attending to their Council, are fascinated by this strange and very rare way of expressing that floods their souls a sense of calm. The Ents are very old and Treebeard, their leader, is in Middle-earth from creation. [The Two Towers]
In another hypothesis "Elders of a gentle race" are an ancient people of the Elves with their singing enchant travelers who have the fortune to meet. The four hobbits, for example, when they meet them at the borders of the Shire and Rivendell, but they do not understand their songs are fascinating and seem to understand. [The Fellowship of the Ring, The Hobbit]

Misty Mountain Hop [Led Zeppelin IV ]

The cover of the album in mysterious also this song (untitled album, or "Led Zeppelin IV" or "Four Symbols") has a precise meaning: The old man with the bundle on his back is to represent nature and the hole in the wall is followed by the buildings (this on the back, with a tall building) symbolizes the squalor of the suburbs and pollution ruining nature. From this album the four band members began to sign with a symbol that represented them (see below). There is an aura of mystery around this magical album-ghost, and as Page had contacts with a Satanist, they tried to find hidden messages in the songs of the disc (a parliamentary committee in California gathered to listen to this song on the contrary, and you receive a message of Satan).

So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains

Where the spirits go now,

Over the hills Where the spirits fly.

Then do your bags for the Misty Mountains
Where now are the spirits,
Over the hills where the spirits fly.

In this song the title is an obvious reference to the Misty Mountains. This mountain range is located in Middle-earth, separating Eriador, and the Wild West to the East in the first book in the series, The Fellowship of the cross through Moria. In verses marked speak the spirits that inhabit the mountains. It is not uncommon to find spirits that haunt places so wild, in fact even if we find them in different Tumulilande or in the desolate Nindalf.
These lines lead to another interpretation: the spirits, who are now traveling and flying over the mountains could be the thoughts of the 13 dwarfs who think beyond the mountains already feel again the masters of the lost treasure of their ancestors. [The Hobbit]

NO QUARTER [ Houses Of The Holy ]

Close the door, put out the light.
They Know won't be home tonight.
The snow falls hard and don't you know,
The winds of Thor are blowing cold.
They're wearing steel that's bright and true,
They carry news that must get through.
They choose a path where no one goes.
They hold no quarter, they ask no quarter.
Walking side by side with death
The Devil mocks their every step.
The snow drives back the foot that's slow,
The dogs of doom are howling more.
They Carry That news must get through
To build a dream for me and you.

Close the door, turn off the lights.
know that there will be no one home tonight. Snow falls
strong and you do not know,
the winds of Thor are blowing cold.
steel wear bright and pure,
bring news that must come.
They choose the path that none have ever undertaken.
not have the prize, the wonder away.
Walking side by side with death
The devil mocks their every step The snow slows
their path,
The fate of the dogs howl louder.
bring news that must get
To realize a dream for me and you.

According to a piece of text that draws the desperate attempt of Aragorn at the head of his army to arrive in Gondor first army of Sauron, in fact, the valiant King takes on the bloody trail of deaths defying the forces of the underworld that, according to the prophecy, recognizing the person who is first dare not hinder but simply follow from afar. [The Return of the King]
A second interpretation would like this song as a picture adventure Fellowship of the Ring on the slopes of Mount Moriah Caradhras and inside, a huge complex of tunnels and rooms built by the dwarves in the mountains, but fell into the hands of the Orcs. [The Fellowship of the Ring]

OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY [ Houses Of The Holy ]

Hey lady , got the love I need and Maybe More Than Enough

Oh, darlin ', darlin', darlin 'Walk a while with me.

Hey lady, you love I need and maybe more than enough
Oh darling, darling, darling walk a bit 'with me.

The title song is the title of a story that is in the collection "The Lost Tales", written by Tolkien of course.
The verses may be reported to both the couple encounter between Aragorn and Arwen and Frodo and the wife of Tom Bombadil, after being dismissed by their friend and taking up the journey Frodo becomes aware of not saying goodbye to the woman loved by Tom Bombadil . While thinking about this, the woman (which in essence would be Mother Nature) is, and walk a bit 'with Frodo, being fascinated by her, still wants his company. [The Fellowship of the Ring]

RAMBLE ON [ Led Zeppelin II ]

Leaves are falling all around;
It's time I was on my way.
Thanks to you I'm much obliged
For such a pleasant stay.
But now it's time for me to go;
The autumn moon lights my way.
But now I smell the rain and with it pain
And it's heading my way.

The leaves fall around me;
it's time for me to go.
Thanks, I'm much obliged
For such a pleasant stay.
But now it's time for me to go,
The autumn moon lights my way.
But now I smell the rain and with it the pain
So begins my journey.

In these lines we talk about Frodo's departure from Hobbiton. His departure coincides with the beginning of the long adventure of the Ring, is in fact the Fall season choice for departing from the Hobbit. The reference to the moonlight illuminating the way forward recalls the long night stages done by him. [The Fellowship of the Ring]

Mine's A Tale That Can not Be Told.
My freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old
When magic filled the air.
'Twas in the Darkest Depths of Mordor
I met a girl so fair,
But Gollum and the Evil One
Crept up and Slipped Away with her. "

Mine is a story that can not be told,
my freedom I hold dear,
Several years ago in ancient times
When magic filled the air
"It was the darkest depths of Mordor I met a girl
very seductive, but
Gollum and his half bad
He came crawling and he slipped out of her. "
....

Stairway To Heaven [Led Zeppelin IV ]

The verses were inspired by Robert Plant book Magic Arts in Celtic Britain " of Spencer Lewis: Talk Search spiritual part of a woman hero of the Celtic tradition. The album contains the song is mysterious (untitled or "Four Symbols" , it would be "Led Zeppelin IV"), the 4 door marked with symbols which they signed the four musicians.

(see video above)

There's a feeling I get When I look to the West
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees
And The Voices Of Those who stand looking.

There's a feeling I get when I look to the West
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen circles of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who are watching.

In the first two verses may be a reference to the elven people who, following an instinct, at some point in their lives feel the need to go to the West where, from the Grey Havens, will set sail with their ships to Valinor: the land of the gods. [The entire trilogy of Lord of the Rings]
In another interpretation could be thought of Bilbo once they leave the house of Beorn. The Hobbit on the way towards the Mirkwood regret having left their homes beyond the Misty Mountains. In his meditation ignores the presence of Bilbo Gandalf (smoke rings) and Beorn the following hiding dwarves to defend their ponies. [The Hobbit]

The Battle Of Evermore [Led Zeppelin IV ]

(see video above)

... Side by side we wait the Might of the darkest of Them All ...
I hear the horses' thunder down in the valley below.

... Side by side we wait the might of the darkest of them ...
I hear the horses thunder down in the valley.

These two lines probably refer to the preparation of the battle between the armies of Sauron and the Riders of Rohan. In fact, Rohan is a flat region where the stronger horses are bred in Middle-earth, making the region famous. [Two Towers]

... War is the common cry, pick up your swords and fight.
The sky is filled with good and bad That mortals never know.
... Oh well, the night is long, the beads of time pass slow,
Tired eyes on the sunrise Waiting for the Eastern glow.
The pain of war can not Exceed the woe of aftermath.

The drums will shake the castle wall.
The Ringwraiths riding black, ride on.
Sing as you raise your bow, shoot straighter Than Before ...
No comfort has the fire at night That lights the face so cold.

... The war is common cry, pick up your swords and fight.
The sky is filled with good and bad that mortals never know.
... Oh well, the night is long, Time passes slowly as a rosary,
Tired eyes on the sunrise waiting for the eastern glow.
The pain of war can not exceed the woe of aftermath.
The drums will shake the castle walls.
the Ringwraiths ride in black, Ride on.
Sing as you raise your bow, shoot straighter than before ...
No comfort has the fire at night that lights the face so cold.

These verses contain a description of the bloody battle between good and evil that brings death and destruction behind him in both armies, because armies of the alliance lost many heroes including King Theoden while the armies of evil lose their general: The Lord of the Nazgul [The Return of the King]

The magic runes are writ in gold to bring the balance back.

The magic runes are writ in gold to bring the balance.

"The magic runes" in our opinion are nothing more than the rings of power distributed among the peoples of Middle-earth and the destruction of the need to regain their power. [The Silmarillion]

Queen of Light took her bow and turned to go, the Prince of Peace embraced the gloom and walked the night alone. Oh, dance in of night, sing to the morning light. The dark Lord rides in force tonight And time will tell us all. Oh, throw down your plow and your hoe, Rest not to lock your homes. Side by side we wait the might of the darkest of them. I hear the horses thunder down in the valley, waiting for the angels of Avalon, waiting for the glow. The fruits of the valley hold The seas of happiness itself, the soil is rich from tender care, Repay, do not forget, no, no. Dance in the dark of night, sing to the morning light. The apples turn to brown and blacks, the tyrant's face is red. Oh, the war is common cry, pick up your swords and run. The sky is filled with good and bad that mortals never know. Oh well, the night is long the beads of time pass slow like a rosary, tired eyes to the sunrise, waiting for the eastern glow. The pain of war can not exceed the woe of aftermath. The drums will shake the castle wall, where the spectra ride in black. Sing as you raise your bow, shoot straighter than before. No comfort has the fire at night that lights the face so cold. Dance in the dark of night, sing to the morning light, the magical runes are written in letters of gold to bring the balance back, Bring it back. At last the sun is shining, the clouds of blue roll by, With flames from the dragon of darkness The sunlight blinds his eyes.

The Giant's Causeway

Cliff (Causeway) of the Giants in Northern Ireland - UNESCO World Heritage Site (my favorite album cover of their "Houses of the holy," is inside Rain also the song). Emerges from the sea as a mysterious trail built by supernatural beings ... the reason is uncertain, it remains doubtful ... A magical and mythical as Stonehenge, are among the craziest places on Earth, that one goes there and is shocked.

"D'yer Mak'er"

It 's a piece reggae-inspired doo wop 50s. The title is a corruption of the word "Jamaica" (Bob Marley reggae ). E 'in their fifth album, in which the group treats the other musical currents of the period: in addition to reggae, funky (in "The Crunge" clear references to James Brown ). At the end of the 70 bursts of punk, definitely different from the LEDs that were now in decline, followers of the current progressive. This is another song with "technique" of "Tangerine," in the text of sadness and joy in music, mixed. " do not have to go ... all the tears I cry ... you hurt me soul ..." , etc.. I always thought that Police appear to have inspired from this song for their famous "Every Breath You Take" "Every breath I take ... Every move I make ..."

"Dancing Days" Song

very summer, the summer nights. "You are my flower, you are my power, you are my woman who knows ..." You are my flower, you are my power, you are my woman who knows ...

Some history...

Origin of the name of the group was suggested by the bassist and drummer of the Who (another historic British group), was originally Lead Zeppelin because he had to give the impression that a lead balloon is free to air ("lead" means lead), but later, as a matter of pronunciation, the name was changed to Led Zeppelin. The cover of their first album has a picture of an airship, taken from the famous photo of the explosion of the airship Hinderburg in New Jersey, in 1937 (see below). The Zeppelin was named by Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, a German Air Force General, who devoted himself to study and design of rigid airships.

Bonzo was John Bonham, drummer (he played with hands instead of with chopsticks!), Who died in 1980 (as John Lennon ), when then broke up Led Zeppelin ( Billy Joel said: "rock and roll died when Bonzo died of Led Zeppelin"). John Paul Jones was the keyboardist / bassist, still in operation (such as Plant). Of course if Bonzo had not drunk too much the night before, would not be drowned in his vomit (yuck!), And Led Zeppelin would still exist today and played the music of the gods ... My idol is Jimmy Page, a monster of music.
